Chief Executive Officer

Bruce joined the ARANZ group in 2006 as the head of sales and marketing. He was appointed CEO of the ARANZ group in 2008 after overseeing seven-fold growth. ARANZ Medical was formed into a separate entity in 2010.

Prior to joining the ARANZ group, Bruce spent 15 years in North America holding senior roles in engineering, product management and business development. Bruce holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering.


Matt RusselMatt Russel

Vice President of Sales

Matthew joined ARANZ Medical in 2012 bringing with him over 20 years’ experience in senior sales, leadership, account management, and customer service management in health information and medical technology organizations. His experience includes working for multi-national companies as well as startup health technology organizations. Having successfully worked on business development in the US, Europe, Singapore, Australia, Israel, and New Zealand, Matthew brings a great deal of experience that enables him to lead the sales growth ARANZ Medical is looking to achieve. Since Matthew joined he has overseen significant sales growth in all targeted markets with ARANZ Medical being recognized nationally and internationally as a leading innovation and technology company.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in accounting and information systems.


Tom RochfordTom Rochford

Vice President of Operations and Engineering

Tom is an experienced General Manager having built development, supply chain, and professional services teams in the technology sector over the past 20 years.

Prior to joining ARANZ Medical in 2015 to manage the rapidly growing global services group, Tom was with Tait Communications where he held various senior management roles focused on improving client outcomes and lowering overall costs to design, install and support IT systems.

Tom’s early career was spent in Cambridge, UK where he cut his teeth in the high-tech sector for Acorn Computers and other start-ups.


Kim Wilson PhotoKim Wilson

Group Financial Controller

Kim joined ARANZ Medical in 2023 as the Group Financial Controller. With over 20 years of finance experience in senior roles in the financial services industry, Kim has spent most of her career in London and Sydney.

Since moving back to New Zealand and a break for maternity leave, Kim has held Financial Control roles with Ritchies Transport and Ngai Tahu Holdings Group.

Kim is a Chartered Accountant and began her career with Deloitte in Christchurch.

Brian Robert Leighs

Brian Robert Leighs

Non-Executive Independent Director

Brian is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He is an independent business consultant. Brian was previously a director of 2 Degrees Mobile, Energy Intellect Ltd and chairman of Hautaki Ltd and Melon Health Ltd, as well as CFO of Volpara Health Technologies Ltd. 

Brian has held senior management roles in the telecommunications, energy, venture capital and information technology sectors. He was Establishment CEO of energy companies Genesis Power in New Zealand, Ikon Energy, and Multinet Gas in Australia. He prepared these Australian Government-owned gas networks and retailing business for privatization.

Mr. Leighs has also project managed trade sales and IPOs on behalf of vendors for Telecom New Zealand (Spark), Powercor Australia, Hazelwood Power, and MAS Technology Limited.


Rick FrightRick Fright

Non-Executive Director, Co-Founder

Rick Fright was born and educated in Canterbury, and attended the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, obtaining a BE (Electrical) in 1980 and a PhD in 1984 under the supervision of the late Professor Bates. Rick joined the Department of Medical Physics and Bioengineering at Christchurch Hospital in 1987.

A Welcome Fellowship at University College London from 1989-1991 enabled him to specialise in 3D medical imaging and computer systems for surgery planning and the automated production of custom implants, prior to co-establishing ARANZ in 1995 and ARANZ Medical in 2005.


Mark Nixon

Mark Nixon

Non-Executive Director, Co-Founder

Mark Nixon obtained a BSc in maths and physics at the University of Canterbury in 1991, and then went on to study medicine at the University of Otago. His study included a one-year recess to research 3D laser surface scanners at the University College London (London, UK), and upon his return to New Zealand in 1995, he co-established the company ARANZ Ltd.

In 1998, when Mark graduated with his medical degree (MB ChB), he focused on exploring medical markets for the company’s 3D laser scanning technology, and was one of the founding members of ARANZ Medical in 2005.
